You're Awake, You're Awesome, Live Like It

I know this video has casually floated around the web for a couple months,
 and chances are you've already seen it, but the message is just so good.
Although it's directed to newborns on their first day here,
I believe it applies to every age and person.

"Amazing things will happen everyday... You're gonna do so much!
It's not about what you do, it's about who you are. And you? You're awesome.
You were made that way! You're made from love, to be loved , to spread loved.
Love is always louder, no matter what! Even if hate has a blow horn, love is always louder.
So let your life be loud. Let's shout to the world, things can be better!
It's okay about all the mess ups!..... And remember to let every body know that
you're glad they're here."

And let's face it. He is beyond adorable.

Love Yourself

As I am sitting here at work,
 I came across these short videos that really touched me.
 I think that every girl / woman should hear this,
and find beauty in what they are and how they look.

Love yourself physically,

And love yourself spiritually.

The happiest of Monday's to you!

SWAK

Happy Love Day!
I hope you're all getting spoiled rotten!!

As for me, I got some lovely chocolate covered strawberries
 from my momma, lots of sweets and pop from my dad,
 (wrapped in tin foil might I add. I wish I had taken a picture!
best wrapping I have ever recieved. haha), and chocolates from my
wonderful boss! I also gave Valentine's to all my family. :)

I'm celebrating at work, selling the cutest darn outfits for all of the ladies' dates tonight.

So naturally...

But I'm all for an excuse to wear red/pink ONE more time this week.
And, I may or may not have gotten a little crafty with my lips.
Yeah right! In an artsy way, okay?

My lips are indeed stained the wonderful color of redpinkpurple.
But whatevs.

Also, if you're waiting for tonight to give your Valentine's gift(s) out,
check out these adorable (free) tags by Cheyenne Lyons Design!

(This picture does NOT do justice!)

Cheyenne makes some of the cutest and unique designs/prints ever.
So print them out and use 'em up!
While you're at it, check out her Etsy shop here. You won't be disappointed!
She's got some amazing spring ones up!
I also went ahead and ordered this gem a couple days ago...

Told ya. The best.

And what better way to start off Valentines than to watch Valentine's Day, in pink jammies,
eating chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate milk at 1 in the morning?

And if you feel so inclined, I've been listening to this playlist all day.
Why not, right?

Also, for some reason I feel like Valentines should always be on a Thursday...
but it's Friday and it's weird.

Happy Valentines Day!

xoxo

August

August Hopes
// Bliss
// Simplicity
// Adventure
// Treasure
// Inspiration
// Love
// Excitement

>>Now, I have all these things already, but August is such an inspiring month.<<

We are left drifting in between incandescent rays of summer and outstretched thoughts of burnt orange and crisp red. You stick your hand out the car window and turn to see golden corn stocks stretched tall.. Those summer nights begin to have a whisper of fall, and you spend every waking minute soaking up the moments of an explainable bliss. Summer is quickly approaching to an end, but  the enchantment of a golden autumn is beginning to send anticipation through your veins. Although the leaves stay the same, and the air is full of warmth, the hope of Fall is unbelievably beautiful.
This life is a delightful journey.

With Love,
Alexa

Lessons Learned {Part 2}

Lesson #2- Love. Love yourself, love your life, love others, do things you love, surround yourself with people and things you love, go places you love, find new things to love, and when you do this, you'll always be happy, even in the hardest of times.

I've always disliked winter. I don't ski or snowboard, I occasionally sled, but that's about the extent of my winter sporting skills. Needless to say I have been thrilled to see the beautiful sunshine out. The first day the temperature rose, my sister and I went for a walk that ended up lasting a few hours. It felt so good to be out! We went on one everyday that there was nice weather until it dropped again. I then made it a goal to soak up that sunshine every time it came out, and I've happily succeeded. It has gotten me out and being active and I think I've found one missing puzzle piece!

As the days have continued getting warmer, I have found myself doing much more outside than any of the past years. In high school I would come home, chill, then spend time doing homework. This led to the majority of outside time on the weekends. Now that I'm home most of the day, I can go outside whenever I want and stay out there as long as I want, and that makes
me happy.

I've found a hobby in writing my LDS missionary friends (which has now added up to more than ten...) and I love that. It's such an uplifting thing to hear from people who do nothing but devote every second of everyday to serving the Lord. It always makes me want to do better, which gets me making new goals for the week. This has been a good thing for me. It's especially great hearing from two of my best friends who are serving in Croatia and Portugal. Those letters give me my boost for the week and make my heart so happy. Getting the mail has become one of the most exciting things ever. Who knew a mailbox could be so fun?

I've began taking more pictures again. I've always been fascinated with photography and the way you can capture time. With the weather being nice, and even when it's a little gloomy out, I've been out taking pictures of the beautiful world. It's amazing what you can find when you actually open your eyes and look!

"There is no tomorrow to remember if we don't do something today." - President Thomas S. Monson

The end of Sophomore year and my entire Junior year of high school I had been taken under into a dark time of my life. I've always been a happy person, but that just wasn't the case anymore. Then from some help from a dear LDS Seminary teacher, and a lot of personal changes, I decided to make my outlook on life a little different. It didn't matter what others thought about me, or where I fit in compared to the others. All that mattered was my happiness, and my progression towards the ultimate goal.
I love myself and who I've become, and I strive to be better everyday. I know who I am, and I'm proud of that. At one point in a Seminary lesson, my teacher told the class to do the things you love that bring you true happiness. I've found those again this week. Or maybe just re-recognized them.
Last night, I spontaneously went out and played some tennis with a good friend of mine that I ran into after eight months, and we went on a 6 1/2 mile walk. Sore legs, plans for the upcoming week, and a few heart to heart talks later I realized that I am extremely blessed to be surrounded by people I love that will do the things I love with me. People who continually build me up, support me, and help me stay positive. People who remind me of who I am and who I want to be. Life can get hard, throw you curve balls, and direct you onto unknown paths, but without fail, if you surround yourself with love in all forms, you can always be happy. And I can honestly say, without the slightest bit of hesitation, I am so happy.

"Cultivate an attitude of happiness. Cultivate a spirit of optimism. Walk with faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature, in the goodness of those you love, in the testimony which you carry in your heart concerning things divine." - President Gordon B. Hinckley

Unbelievably Beautiful

Today my beautiful sister turned twelve years old. I truly can't believe it! I remember the day she was born, and I was beyond excited to finally have a sister (I cried at both of my brothers ultrasounds when we found out they were boys.) Little did I know I was going to be blessed with the most incredible one out there. She has taught me so much, and she has grown into such a precious young lady. Her sense of humor, positive outlook, contagious laugh, tender heart, and growing testimony have influenced me in so many good ways. She has so many amazing qualities that it blows my mind. How can one little girl contain so much positivity? She is one of my greatest friends, and an extremely big example. I don't know where I would be without her. Not to mention she is naturally one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen. Ever. Her smile can make anybody's day better, and she is one of the sweetest people you could ever know. Everyone should have someone like her in their life. She's one of a kind.

Happy birthday Squirt! You are such a blessing to me and I hope you know how much I love you! I hope your twelfth year treats you good, because you deserve better than the best in everything. Thank you for being yourself and for making my life so much better. You really are the best sister in the world, and not just because you're my only sister, but because you really are the best. Words can't begin to tell you how much you mean to me. Love you!
